From Mexico City to Barranquilla
I'm Anuar Harb. I've spent six years in Barranquilla and three building Costa Digital — the innovation and tech-transformation center of the Colombian Caribbean. Costa Digital is operated by Fundación Código Abierto, lives at Casa Tech, and brings together education, innovation, capital, and community under one roof. I'm also Founding Partner at Caribe Ventures and lead Google Developer Group Barranquilla. Today I'm 100% focused on this mission: that Caribbean talent stops migrating—and starts building here.
I was born into the magic realism of Mexico City and grew up pulled toward both science and the arts acting, writing, chess, and national-level rugby. My schooling moved between a conservative Catholic college and a liberal school founded by Spanish exiles; that mix shaped how I see the world. I studied Business Administration at ITAM, which gave me the foundation to understand the other side of tech: industries, business models, capital decisions.
The turn to technology came with a web development bootcamp at Dev.f. It opened the door to the craft, grew my mentors and friends, and gave me the lens I still use: tech as a way to connect people and transform industries.
I've spent more than ten years as a software developer. I worked at Playbusiness—where I learned how to invest in early-stage startups, in equity crowdfunding infrastructure—at Beek, a Y Combinator startup, and at Gorilla Logic, with global enterprise clients. I also taught programming and helped build Ciudad Inmersiva and academies like Music Centre and Code Centre at the intersection of education and tech.
